Change is Your Best Friend...
You have the power, ignore the noise.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
Progress is impossible without change.
The Breakdown
Hey fam!
DEEP DIVE

Things never go to plan, you have to be willing to flow the punches.
A few months ago, I attended a webinar on career growth. It was a normal webinar, apart from when the host said this:
Newsflash: The corporate ladder doesn’t exist.
As a Gen-Z worker, I knew this to be true but didn’t believe others thought the same. Climbing the ladder often relies on how well you navigate the game of office politics (especially if you want a quick climb).
Stay late to impress the boss
Attend every social event just to show your face
Take part in office gossip to find any rumours you can take advantage of
However, this is a game that I’ll never be interested in.
But something else has always worried me more than office politics.
Growing up, I worried not having a clear career path would put me at a disadvantage. I always heard stories of people having linear careers spanning 30+ years.
However, we live in a different reality in 2024.
Today, being adaptable and continuously learning is the best strategy. You can make better career choices by committing to improving your skills and changing your perspective.
The only certainty we have is uncertainty.
In an unpredictable world, the ability to adapt and learn new skills is invaluable. Rather than following a rigid career path, embracing flexibility and growth can lead to more fulfilling and dynamic career experiences.
The biggest takeaway: This learner mindset applies to your career AND your life as a whole. Embrace change and be on the right side of the waves, or else you’ll drown with the stragglers.
